I have mentioned before that the encore os is Android 4.4.2 and the tool is no longer supported or receiving updates. It is however still a very useful diagnostic tool with vehicle coverage through 2024 as well as generic OBDII.
Remember that a scan for codes in OBDII that returns no codes, does not mean there are no codes in the other systems on the car.
When you do a full system scan on this Buick, you'll find there are nine codes stored.
The most relevant to the complaint on this Buick is the B0148-61 which, along with the clicking sound from the dash and the passenger vents not changing from heat tells me the right temperature blend door actuator is not moving. A low refrigerant charge can cause temp control to vary from side to side but in this case I can see and hear a bad actuator.
Just to follow up on this car problem. I do know the actuator isn't working but I do also want to know that the a/c doesn't need a charge before I make my estimate to repair. I want to turn both temp controls to coldest and then check the vent temps on both the driver and passenger sides. If the driver side shows the expected cold air then it is safe to assume a full system charge is present. No need to recover and weigh the refrigerant charge.
Thanks for reading.
